Quinapril falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Chanca Piedra interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of chanca piedra with antihypertensive drugs might have additive blood pressure lowering effects.
Animal research suggests that chanca piedra can decrease blood pressure. However, this effect was not observed in most hypertensive patients treated with chanca piedra for 10 days.

Here's the simple version: Quinapril already lowers your blood pressure by relaxing your blood vessels. Chanca piedra may, at least in theory, nudge blood pressure down a little too. Put the two together and you could get a slightly bigger drop than you'd expect.

That said, I don't want to worry you. This is a theoretical concern based mostly on animal studies, and a short human study didn't really show the effect. If anything did happen, you might notice mild dizziness, lightheadedness, or feeling faint when you stand up quickly. Just keep an eye on how you feel, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding chanca piedra, especially if your readings already run low.

About Quinapril

What Is Quinapril Used For?

Brand names: Accupril, Accupro

Quinapril tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack. Quinapril may be used alone or combined with a thiazide diuretic (water pill) when one medication isn't enough.

Quinapril tablets are also used in the management of heart failure as an add-on therapy alongside other standard treatments such as diuretics and/or digitalis.
