Glipizide falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Chanca Piedra interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use with antidiabetes drugs might affect glucose control and increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Animal research suggests that chanca piedra can have hypoglycemic effects. However, a small clinical study in adults with diabetes shows that chanca piedra extract 25 grams orally daily for 1 week does not lower fasting or postprandial blood glucose levels.

Here's the gist: glipizide already does the heavy lifting of pushing your blood sugar down by prompting your pancreas to release more insulin. The concern with chanca piedra is that it might nudge blood sugar a little lower too, so stacking the two could, in theory, add up to a low (hypoglycemia). That can look like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a racing heart, or confusion.

The honest part: this is mostly a theoretical worry. Animal studies hinted at a blood-sugar-lowering effect, but a small human study found that chanca piedra did not actually move fasting or after-meal glucose. So I'd call this low risk and unlikely. Still, if you take glipizide and want to try chanca piedra, check your sugars more often at first and give your pharmacist or doctor a heads-up.

What Is Glipizide Used For?

Glipizide tablets and glipizide extended-release tablets are both used as an add-on to diet and exercise to improve blood sugar (glucose) control in adults with type 2 diabetes. It is not used for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis (a serious complication of uncontrolled blood sugar).
