Valsartan falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Chanca Piedra interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use of chanca piedra with antihypertensive drugs might have additive blood pressure lowering effects.
Animal research suggests that chanca piedra can decrease blood pressure. However, this effect was not observed in most hypertensive patients treated with chanca piedra for 10 days.

Here's the short version: chanca piedra may nudge your blood pressure down a little on its own. Since valsartan already works to lower blood pressure, taking the two together could, in theory, add up and push your numbers a bit lower than expected. Valsartan is active as-is (not a prodrug), so this is simply about overlapping blood-pressure-lowering effects, not about how the drug is broken down.

The good news is this is mostly a theoretical concern based on animal studies, and a small human study didn't really see extra lowering. If you do combine them, just watch for signs of low blood pressure like dizziness, lightheadedness, or feeling faint when you stand up. Check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it, especially if your pressure already runs low.

About Valsartan

What Is Valsartan Used For?

Brand names: Diovan, Prexxartan

Valsartan treats high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children, heart failure in adults, and reduces the risk of cardiovascular death in adults who have had a heart attack and have a weakened heart muscle. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack.

Diovan (valsartan) tablets are approved to treat high blood pressure in children as young as 1 year old. Valsartan tablets (other brands) are approved for children 6 years and older. Valsartan oral solution is specifically indicated for patients with heart failure or post-heart attack left ventricular dysfunction who are unable to swallow tablets.
