Flutamide falls under Cytochrome P450 3A4 (Cyp3A4) Substrates — the group Humann Superbeets Heart Chews interacts with.

Each serving of HumanN SuperBeets includes 150mg of grape seed extract (2 chews). Laboratory studies suggest that grape seed extract might have inhibitory effects on the CYP3A4 metabolizing enzyme. If this enzyme is inhibited, drugs metabolized by it may undergo slower metabolism, potentially leading to (in many cases) higher-than-normal drug levels. Elevated drug levels can increase the risk of experiencing side effects. However, it's important to point out that there is no documented or reported instance of this specific interaction occurring in human studies.

Here's the gist with these beet chews and your Flutamide. Each two-chew serving has grape seed extract, and lab studies hint it could slightly slow down CYP3A4, one of the liver enzymes that helps process Flutamide. In theory, if that enzyme works a little slower, Flutamide could build up a bit more than usual. Since Flutamide is active on its own (not a prodrug that needs activating), more of it could mean a higher chance of its known side effects, such as hot flashes, breast tenderness, diarrhea, nausea, or liver-related issues.

That said, I want to keep this in perspective. This is based only on test-tube work, not real people, and it's rated as a minor and unlikely interaction. For most folks it probably won't cause trouble. Still, because liver monitoring matters with Flutamide, run it by your oncology team or pharmacist before adding the chews.

What Is Flutamide Used For?

Brand names: Eulexin, Euflex

Eulexin (flutamide) capsules are used to treat prostate cancer in men. They are always used together with an LHRH agonist (a hormone-lowering injection), never alone.

Eulexin is indicated for two stages of prostate cancer: locally confined Stage B2-C prostate cancer (used alongside goserelin acetate and radiation therapy, starting eight weeks before radiation begins) and Stage D2 metastatic prostate cancer (cancer that has spread beyond the prostate, taken with an LHRH agonist until the disease progresses).
