Flutamide falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Resveratrol interacts with.

Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit CYP1A2 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for flutamide: your liver uses an enzyme called CYP1A2 to help process it. Resveratrol, in test-tube studies, can slow that same enzyme down. If that slowdown happened in real life, flutamide could build up a bit more than usual, which might mean stronger effects and a higher chance of side effects like nausea, diarrhea, hot flashes, or rises in liver enzymes (something your doctor already watches closely with this medicine).

The important part: this is theoretical, based only on lab work, and it has not actually been reported in people taking resveratrol. Food amounts (grapes, berries) are very unlikely to matter; concentrated supplements are the bigger question mark. Before adding a resveratrol supplement, just check with your pharmacist or oncologist so they can keep an eye on things.

Flutamide also falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES.

Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme. However, clinical research shows that taking resveratrol 3000 mg daily for 8 weeks does not necessitate dose adjustments to medications metabolized by CYP3A4.

Here's the gist for flutamide: your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help process it. In lab dish studies, resveratrol can slow that enzyme down a bit. In theory, that could let flutamide build up slightly, which might raise the odds of side effects like nausea, diarrhea, hot flashes, or stress on the liver.

The good news is that this concern comes from test-tube research only, and an actual human study using a hefty 3000 mg of resveratrol daily for 8 weeks found no need to adjust CYP3A4 medications. So real-world worry is low. Still, since flutamide already needs liver monitoring, it's smart to mention any resveratrol supplement to your pharmacist or oncologist before starting.

What Is Flutamide Used For?

Brand names: Eulexin, Euflex

Eulexin (flutamide) capsules are used to treat prostate cancer in men. They are always used together with an LHRH agonist (a hormone-lowering injection), never alone.

Eulexin is indicated for two stages of prostate cancer: locally confined Stage B2-C prostate cancer (used alongside goserelin acetate and radiation therapy, starting eight weeks before radiation begins) and Stage D2 metastatic prostate cancer (cancer that has spread beyond the prostate, taken with an LHRH agonist until the disease progresses).
