Formoterol falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2C19 (CYP2C19) SUBSTRATES — the group Resveratrol interacts with.

Theoretically, resveratrol might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C19.
In vitro research shows that resveratrol can inhibit CYP2C19 enzymes. However, this interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for your formoterol inhaler. The concern on file is that resveratrol can block an enzyme called CYP2C19, which in theory could let drugs cleared by that enzyme build up a little. Formoterol is an active medicine (not a prodrug), so if its levels nudged upward, you'd mainly want to watch for the usual beta-agonist effects getting stronger: a fast or pounding heartbeat, jitteriness or shakiness, headache, or a nervous feeling.

That said, I don't want to alarm you. This is based only on lab (test-tube) studies, and it has never actually been reported in people. Formoterol is inhaled, so very little reaches the liver in the first place. Everyday amounts from grapes or berries are unlikely to matter. If you take concentrated resveratrol supplements, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor.

What Is Formoterol Oral Inhalation Used For?

Brand names: Foradil Aerolizer, Atimos Modulite, Oxis Turbohaler, Perforomist, Foradil Certihaler

Formoterol fumarate inhalation solution is used for the long-term maintenance treatment of airway narrowing (bronchoconstriction) in adults with COPD, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It is taken twice daily — morning and evening — as a regular, ongoing treatment.

Important limits: This medication is not for relieving sudden COPD flare-ups or breathlessness in the moment, and it is not approved to treat asthma. A separate short-acting inhaler should always be on hand for sudden symptoms.
