Glasdegib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Astaxanthin interacts with.

Theoretically, astaxanthin may decrease levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that astaxanthin induces CYP3A4 enzyme activity in human hepatocytes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the concern with these two together. Your body clears glasdegib using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab dishes, astaxanthin appears to speed up that enzyme, which in theory could clear glasdegib out of your system faster and leave you with lower drug levels. For a leukemia medication, weaker blood levels could mean it doesn't fight the cancer as well as it should, and that's a real worry.

The honest part: this is only seen in test-tube and cell studies, not in actual patients, so we don't truly know if it happens in people. Still, because glasdegib is treating a serious illness, I'd never gamble on it. Please run any astaxanthin supplement by your oncology team or pharmacist before adding it.

Astaxanthin is a reddish carotenoid pigment with strong antioxidant activity in the lab, and it is widely promoted for skin, eye, heart, and exercise benefits. What Is Glasdegib Used For?

Brand name: Daurismo

Daurismo (glasdegib) is approved to treat newly-diagnosed acute myeloid leukemia (AML) — a fast-growing cancer of the blood and bone marrow. It is used specifically in adults who are 75 years of age or older, or in adults of any age whose other health conditions make intensive induction chemotherapy too risky.

Daurismo is not used alone. It is always given together with low-dose cytarabine, a separate chemotherapy medicine, as part of a 28-day treatment cycle.
