Here's the thing to know if you use NovoRapid insulin: astragalus may have its own mild blood-sugar-lowering effect. Some human studies suggest it can nudge sugar levels down on its own. Stack that on top of your insulin, and the two can add up, pushing your blood sugar lower than you intended.

In real life, that means a higher chance of a low (hypoglycemia), which can show up as shakiness, sweating, a racing heart, confusion, or feeling lightheaded. This isn't a reason to panic or stop anything, but it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor. If you do try astragalus, checking your sugar more often at first is a smart move so nothing catches you off guard.
