Bael + Escitalopram
Escitalopram brand name: Lexapro.
Bael has a minor interaction with Escitalopram. Bael and its constituents marmelosin and marmesinin inhibited cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) activity in vitro.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Escitalopram
Escitalopram falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Bael interacts with.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), ketoconazole (Nizoral), itraconazole (Sporanox), fexofenadine (Allegra), triazolam (Halcion), and numerous others. Use bael cautiously or avoid in patients taking these drugs.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the honest picture with bael and your Lexapro. In lab tests (test tubes, not people), compounds in bael slowed down an enzyme called CYP3A4, which is one of the liver enzymes that helps break escitalopram down. If that slowdown happened in your body, escitalopram could build up a bit and you might notice more of its usual effects, like nausea, drowsiness, headache, trouble sleeping, or jitteriness.
That said, this is a theoretical concern only. It has never actually been reported in people, and escitalopram mostly relies on a different enzyme (CYP2C19) anyway, so 3A4 isn't its main pathway. Everyday amounts of bael fruit are unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated supplements are a bigger unknown, so just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

About Bael
What is Bael?
- Diarrhea and dysentery
- Indigestion and other digestive complaints
- Constipation
- Blood sugar support
- General wellness in traditional medicine
Bael is a fruit-bearing tree long used in traditional Indian (Ayurvedic) medicine, mostly for digestive problems like diarrhea and indigestion. Modern human evidence for its medicinal benefits is very limited, so it should be viewed mainly as a food and traditional remedy rather than a proven treatment. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using bael as a supplement, especially if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a health condition.

Escitalopram Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Escitalopram as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Bael — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
