Here's the thing about brexanolone (Zulresso): it's a powerful infusion that calms brain activity to treat postpartum depression, and it already carries a real risk of making you very drowsy or even causing sudden, deep sleepiness. That's actually why it's given in a monitored hospital setting with close watching.

Adding beer pours fuel on that fire. Both alcohol and brexanolone slow the brain down, so together they can stack up and push the sedation much further. We're talking heavier drowsiness, dizziness, trouble staying alert, slowed breathing, and a higher chance of passing out. Since alcohol is also a poor idea while recovering from depression and during breastfeeding, the safest move is none while you're on this treatment. Please confirm with your care team.
