Baclofen falls under SEIZURE THRESHOLD LOWERING DRUGS — the group Biofeedback interacts with.

There is some concern that electroencephalogram (EEG) biofeedback might lower the seizure threshold in some patients. Theoretically, combining EEG biofeedback with seizure threshold-lowering drugs might increase the risk of seizure.
Some drugs that lower the seizure threshold include anesthetics (propofol, others), antiarrhythmics (mexiletine), antibiotics (amphotericin, penicillin, cephalosporins, imipenem), antidepressants (bupropion, others), antihistamines (cyproheptadine, others), immunosuppressants (cyclosporine), narcotics (fentanyl, others), stimulants (methylphenidate), theophylline, and others.

Here's the gist for baclofen: this isn't a typical drug interaction. Biofeedback is a learning technique, not something your body has to break down, so it doesn't change how baclofen is processed or how strong it is. The concern on file is narrower and applies mainly to EEG (brainwave) biofeedback, which in some people may slightly lower the seizure threshold.

Baclofen carries its own small seizure risk, especially if a dose is stopped suddenly. So in theory, pairing the two could nudge that risk up a bit. This is a theoretical concern based on limited evidence, not a common problem. If you have a seizure history or use intrathecal baclofen, it's worth a quick chat with your doctor before starting EEG biofeedback. Don't change your baclofen on your own.

About Baclofen

What Is Baclofen Used For?

Brand names: Lioresal, Ozobax, Lyvispah, Fleqsuvy

Baclofen treats spasticity — the stiffness, muscle spasms, and rigidity that can come from neurological conditions. Oral forms (tablets, solutions, suspension, and granules) are used for spasticity from multiple sclerosis and spinal cord injuries or diseases. They are not intended for muscle spasm caused by rheumatic conditions like arthritis.

Intrathecal baclofen — delivered directly into the fluid around the spinal cord through an implanted pump — is reserved for severe spasticity that hasn't responded to oral baclofen, or when oral doses cause intolerable side effects. Gablofen (intrathecal injection) is specifically indicated for adults and children age 4 and older with spasticity of spinal or cerebral origin.
