Acalabrutinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Bishop's Weed interacts with.

Bergapten, a constituent of bishop's weed, has been shown to inhibit cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) in vitro. Theoretically, bishop's weed might inhibit elimination and increase blood levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include alprazolam (Xanax), amitriptyline (Elavil), amiodarone (Cordarone), buspirone (Buspar), cerivastatin (Baycol), citalopram (Celexa), felodipine (Plendil), fexofenadine (Allegra), itraconazole (Sporanox), ketoconazole (Nizoral), lansoprazole (Prevacid), losartan (Cozaar), lovastatin (Mevacor), ondansetron (Zofran), prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone), sertraline (Zoloft), sibutramine (Meridia), sildenafil (Viagra), simvastatin (Zocor), verapamil (Calan, Covera-HS, Isoptin), and many others.

Here's the gist for Calquence (acalabrutinib). Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break this cancer medicine down and clear it from your body. Bishop's Weed contains a compound (bergapten) that may slow that same enzyme. If it does, acalabrutinib could clear more slowly and build up in your blood, which can mean stronger effects and more side effects, things like bruising or bleeding more easily, headaches, diarrhea, tiredness, or a higher infection risk.

To be fair, this concern comes mainly from lab studies, not real patients, so it's theoretical. Still, acalabrutinib is a serious cancer drug, so I wouldn't take Bishop's Weed alongside it without checking first. Please run it by your oncologist or pharmacist before adding it.

Bishop's Weed (Ammi majus) is a flowering plant whose seeds contain natural light-sensitizing compounds called psoralens, which have been studied mainly for skin conditions like vitiligo and psoriasis when combined with light therapy. The plant is potentially toxic and can cause severe skin and eye reactions when exposed to sunlight, so it is not something to take on your own. If you are interested in psoralen-based treatments, work with a dermatologist rather than self-treating.

What Is Acalabrutinib Used For?

Brand name: Calquence

Calquence is used to treat adults with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) — either newly diagnosed (in combination with bendamustine and rituximab, for patients who are not candidates for a stem cell transplant) or previously treated (after at least one prior therapy). It is also used to treat adults with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or small lymphocytic lymphoma (SLL).

Both the capsule and tablet forms of Calquence are approved for all three of these uses. The specific combination regimen and treatment schedule depend on the condition being treated and what other medicines are used alongside it — your care team will map that out for you.
