Here's the short version on combining black seed with Gamifant (emapalumab-lzsg). Gamifant is a powerful lab-made antibody used to calm a dangerously overactive immune system in HLH. The concern with black seed is that it may nudge your immune system, but honestly the evidence pulls in both directions. Some animal and test-tube studies hint it can boost immune activity (which could work against the very effect Gamifant is trying to achieve), while others suggest it can dampen the immune system.

The key thing to know: this is theoretical, based only on lab and animal data, not on people taking these two together. Food-amount sprinkles of black seed are unlikely to matter. Still, because Gamifant treats a very serious condition, please don't add concentrated black seed supplements without first checking with your doctor or pharmacist.

What Is Emapalumab-lzsg Injection Used For?

Brand name: Gamifant

Gamifant is used to treat primary hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) — a rare, life-threatening condition where the immune system becomes dangerously overactivated — in adults and children whose disease has not responded to, has come back during, or has progressed on standard HLH therapy, or who cannot tolerate it.

Gamifant is also used for HLH/macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) in adults and children with known or suspected Still's disease, including systemic Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (sJIA), when glucocorticoids (steroid medicines) have not worked well enough, cannot be tolerated, or when MAS keeps coming back.
