Here's the honest picture: the interaction on file is really about black seed possibly nudging your immune system one way or the other, and it's grouped under immune-affecting drugs. Lumateperone (Caplyta) isn't an immunosuppressant, though. It's an antipsychotic that works on brain chemistry, so this particular concern doesn't map neatly onto it.

On top of that, the evidence here is very weak, just lab and animal studies that actually point in opposite directions. So I wouldn't lose sleep over this specific pairing. That said, supplement-strength black seed hasn't been well studied alongside Caplyta, and I'd want to make sure nothing affects your sleepiness or dizziness. Please run it by your pharmacist or prescriber first.

What Is Lumateperone Used For?

Brand name: Caplyta

Caplyta (lumateperone) is approved for adults with schizophrenia, depressive episodes associated with bipolar I or II disorder (bipolar depression), and as an add-on treatment for major depressive disorder (MDD).

For bipolar depression, Caplyta can be used on its own or alongside lithium or valproate. For MDD, Caplyta is used together with an antidepressant — not on its own as a standalone antidepressant.
