Adagrasib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Bog Labrador Tea interacts with.

In vitro research shows that aqueous and ethanolic extracts of Bog Labrador tea leaves can increase the concentration of cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) enzymes. Extracts obtained from different geographical regions in Quebec resulted in differing potency of CYP3A4 induction. Bog Labrador tea might increase the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates.
Drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), clarithromycin (Biaxin), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), diltiazem (Cardizem), estrogens, indinavir (Crixivan), amiodarone (Cordarone), ticagrelor (Brilinta), triazolam (Halcion), and others.

Here's the gist for Adagrasib (Krazati), your targeted cancer pill for certain KRAS-mutated lung cancers. Your body relies heavily on an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break this drug down, and lab studies suggest Bog Labrador tea may speed that enzyme up. If that happens in real life, your body could clear Adagrasib faster, leaving less of it in your system to fight the cancer. That's the worry here: not extra side effects, but the medicine possibly working less well.

I'll be honest, this is based only on test-tube research, not people, so it's far from proven. Still, with a cancer drug you don't want to gamble on losing effectiveness. Please check with your oncologist or pharmacist before sipping this tea.

Bog Labrador tea is a wetland shrub whose leaves have long been brewed as a traditional beverage and folk remedy, especially among Indigenous peoples of North America. There is very little human research to confirm any health benefit, and the plant is closely related to species that contain toxic compounds, so it should be used cautiously and in moderation. About Adagrasib

What Is Adagrasib Used For?

Brand name: Krazati

Krazati (adagrasib) is used to treat adults with locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that carries a specific genetic change called a KRAS G12C mutation. It is used as a single agent for NSCLC after at least one prior treatment, and patients must be confirmed to have this mutation by an FDA-approved test.

Krazati is also used in combination with another drug called cetuximab to treat adults with KRAS G12C-mutated locally advanced or metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC) who have already been treated with specific prior chemotherapy regimens. Both uses were approved under the FDA's accelerated approval program based on tumor response data, and continued approval may depend on results from confirmatory trials.
