Bog Labrador Tea + Testosterone
Testosterone brand names: Intrinsa, Testim, Androgel, Andropatch, Testogel, and others.
Bog Labrador Tea has a moderate interaction with Testosterone. In vitro research shows that aqueous and ethanolic extracts of Bog Labrador tea leaves can increase the concentration of cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) enzymes.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Testosterone
Testosterone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Bog Labrador Tea interacts with.
Drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), clarithromycin (Biaxin), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), diltiazem (Cardizem), estrogens, indinavir (Crixivan), amiodarone (Cordarone), ticagrelor (Brilinta), triazolam (Halcion), and others.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the basic idea: your body uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to help break down testosterone. In lab studies (not in people yet), extracts of Bog Labrador tea seemed to boost the activity of that enzyme. If that holds true in the body, it could mean testosterone gets cleared a little faster than usual, which might slightly weaken its benefit.
In practical terms, that could look like your low-testosterone symptoms (low energy, low libido, mood changes) not improving as well as expected. I want to be honest, though: this is based only on test-tube research, and the strength varied between different tea samples, so we really don't know how much it matters in real life. Casual, occasional tea is far less concerning than concentrated supplement doses. Since testosterone is closely monitored with bloodwork, just let your doctor or pharmacist know if you're using this tea.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Testosterone page
“The supplement list for testosterone therapy (Androgel, Testim, Nebido, and others) deserves real attention, mainly because five of its 170 entries are rated major and four of those are everyday items: grapefruit, St. John's wort, and alcohol in the form of beer or wine.”

About Bog Labrador Tea
What is Bog Labrador Tea?
- Coughs and respiratory complaints
- Digestive upset and diarrhea
- Anxiety and stress
- As a warm beverage
- Aches and pains (traditional use)
Bog Labrador tea is a wetland shrub whose leaves have long been brewed as a traditional beverage and folk remedy, especially among Indigenous peoples of North America. There is very little human research to confirm any health benefit, and the plant is closely related to species that contain toxic compounds, so it should be used cautiously and in moderation. Pregnant or breastfeeding people should avoid it, and anyone considering it should talk with a pharmacist or doctor first.
About Testosterone
What Is Testosterone Used For?
Brand names: Intrinsa, Testim, Androgel, Andropatch, Testogel, Nebido, Delatestryl, Natesto, Vogelxo
Testosterone replacement therapy is used in adult males whose bodies do not produce enough of their own testosterone. This includes primary hypogonadism — where the testes themselves fail due to causes such as Klinefelter's syndrome, injury, chemotherapy, or surgical removal — and hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, where the brain's signaling system (the hypothalamus or pituitary gland) fails to trigger testosterone production.
Testopel (subcutaneous pellets) may also be used to stimulate puberty in carefully selected males with clearly delayed puberty. The safety and efficacy of testosterone for age-related (late-onset) hypogonadism have not been established for most products, including AndroGel, Testim, Jatenzo, Kyzatrex, Natesto, Depo-Testosterone, Testosterone Cypionate, and Xyosted.
