Bog Labrador Tea + Armodafinil
Armodafinil brand name: Nuvigil.
Bog Labrador Tea has a moderate interaction with Armodafinil. In vitro research shows that aqueous and ethanolic extracts of Bog Labrador tea leaves can increase the concentration of cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) enzymes.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Armodafinil
Armodafinil falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Bog Labrador Tea interacts with.
Drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 include lovastatin (Mevacor), clarithromycin (Biaxin), cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune), diltiazem (Cardizem), estrogens, indinavir (Crixivan), amiodarone (Cordarone), ticagrelor (Brilinta), triazolam (Halcion), and others.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist for armodafinil (Nuvigil). Your body relies partly on an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break this medicine down. Lab studies (not human studies) suggest Bog Labrador tea may speed that enzyme up, which is called induction. If that happens, your body could clear armodafinil a little faster, possibly leaving you with weaker wakefulness benefit, so the daytime sleepiness you're trying to control might creep back.
I want to be honest about the strength here: this is based on test-tube and animal data, and the effect even varied by where the plant was grown. So it's a maybe, not a sure thing, and a casual cup likely matters less than concentrated extracts. Still, if you notice the medicine isn't working as well, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

About Bog Labrador Tea
What is Bog Labrador Tea?
- Coughs and respiratory complaints
- Digestive upset and diarrhea
- Anxiety and stress
- As a warm beverage
- Aches and pains (traditional use)
Bog Labrador tea is a wetland shrub whose leaves have long been brewed as a traditional beverage and folk remedy, especially among Indigenous peoples of North America. There is very little human research to confirm any health benefit, and the plant is closely related to species that contain toxic compounds, so it should be used cautiously and in moderation. Pregnant or breastfeeding people should avoid it, and anyone considering it should talk with a pharmacist or doctor first.
About Armodafinil
What Is Armodafinil Used For?
Brand name: Nuvigil
Armodafinil tablets (including the brand Nuvigil) are used to improve wakefulness in adults who have excessive sleepiness linked to one of three conditions: obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), narcolepsy, or shift work disorder (SWD).
In obstructive sleep apnea, armodafinil treats the sleepiness itself — not the underlying airway obstruction. If CPAP (a breathing device worn during sleep) is the right treatment for you, your doctor should try that first before adding armodafinil for sleepiness.

Natural Medicines records Armodafinil as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Bog Labrador Tea — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
