Saxagliptin, metformin XR falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Brickellia interacts with.

Preliminary research in animal models shows that brickellia and its constituents have hypoglycemic effects. Theoretically, taking brickellia with drugs that decrease blood glucose levels might increase the risk of hypoglycemia. Some antidiabetes drugs include glimepiride (Amaryl), glyburide (DiaBeta, Glynase PresTab, Micronase), insulin, pioglitazone (Actos), rosiglitazone (Avandia), and others.

Here's the simple version. Kombiglyze combines two blood sugar lowering medicines (saxagliptin and metformin), and Brickellia tea may also nudge your blood sugar down a bit. Put them together and, in theory, your sugar could dip lower than you'd like. That can show up as shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a racing heart, or feeling foggy and irritable. Metformin on its own rarely causes lows, but adding more sugar-lowering effects on top can tip the balance.

I want to be honest about the evidence, though. This concern comes only from animal and lab studies, not real human trials, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. If you'd like to try Brickellia, check with your pharmacist or doctor first and keep an eye on your blood sugar readings.
