Here's the honest picture on combining buchu with selumetinib (Koselugo). The concern on file is that buchu may have mild blood-thinning (antiplatelet) effects of its own. The catch is that this interaction was written for true blood thinners like aspirin or warfarin, and selumetinib isn't really one of those. So this isn't a strong drug-on-drug clash so much as two things that could each nudge bleeding risk a little.

That said, selumetinib can already cause issues like easy bruising, bleeding, and stomach upset, so adding anything that might thin the blood is worth a second look. This is theoretical and based only on weak, anecdotal evidence. Please don't start or stop anything on your own. Check with your child's oncology team or pharmacist before using buchu.

Buchu is a fragrant South African shrub whose leaves are traditionally used for urinary and bladder complaints and as a diuretic. Solid human studies are lacking, so its benefits are largely unproven, and it should be avoided in pregnancy and breastfeeding. What Is Selumetinib Used For?

Brand name: Koselugo

Koselugo (selumetinib) is approved for adults and children 1 year of age and older who have neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) — a genetic condition that causes tumors to grow on nerve tissue — when they also have symptomatic, inoperable plexiform neurofibromas (large, deep nerve tumors that cannot be surgically removed and are causing problems).

Both the Koselugo capsule and Koselugo oral granule formulations are approved for this use. The oral granule form is intended for patients who have difficulty swallowing whole capsules.
