Here's the connection worth knowing: the pseudoephedrine in your Sudafed Cold/Flu works by stimulating alpha-adrenergic receptors, which tightens blood vessels to dry up congestion. Butcher's broom appears to have its own mild alpha-adrenergic activity. So in theory, taking them together could add up and slightly boost pseudoephedrine's effects, like a faster heartbeat, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, or a bump in blood pressure.

I want to be honest with you, though: this concern comes only from lab and animal studies, not from real people, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. The dextromethorphan part isn't involved here. If you have high blood pressure or heart issues, or just want to be safe, check with your pharmacist before combining them.
