Here's the idea behind this pairing. Terazosin works by blocking alpha-adrenergic receptors, which relaxes the muscles in your blood vessels and around your prostate. Butcher's broom seems to do the opposite in lab and animal studies, acting like an alpha stimulator that tightens those same vessels. So in theory, the supplement could work against your medication and blunt some of its benefit.

What that might look like in real life: slightly higher blood pressure readings, or less relief from BPH symptoms like weak stream or frequent urination. Keep in mind this is a theoretical concern based on early research, not something proven in people, so I wouldn't panic. Still, it's worth running past your pharmacist or doctor before you start butcher's broom, and don't stop or change your terazosin on your own.

About Terazosin

What Is Terazosin Used For?

Brand names: Hytrin, Terazosin

Terazosin capsules and Tezruly oral solution are both used to relieve the urinary symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) — the enlarged prostate condition that causes trouble urinating — in adult males. They are also used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), either alone or combined with other blood pressure medicines.

Lowering blood pressure with terazosin reduces the risk of serious cardiovascular events, including strokes and heart attacks. Tezruly (the oral solution) may be used alone or alongside other antihypertensive agents for hypertension.
