Here's the thinking behind this one. Calumba is a bitter root, and the traditional idea is that its bitterness nudges your stomach to make more acid. Esomeprazole (Nexium) works in the opposite direction by shutting down acid production, which is how it eases heartburn and helps heal the esophagus. So in theory, if Calumba bumps up acid, it could work against your Nexium and you might notice more heartburn or reflux symptoms sneaking back.

I want to be honest though: this is built on very thin, anecdotal evidence, and it's rated as a minor concern. For most people it isn't a big deal. Still, if you take Calumba regularly and feel your symptoms creeping back, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor.
