Laboratory research shows that carob, when consumed as part of the diet or used as a thickening agent in infant formula, reduces the absorption of certain minerals. Take carob 30-60 minutes after oral medications.

Here's the gist with carob and your oxandrolone (Anavar). Carob pods are loaded with fiber and tannins, and lab studies suggest those compounds can bind things in the gut and slightly cut down how much of an oral medication gets absorbed. The concern here is purely about absorption, not how your body processes the drug, and oxandrolone is already active when you swallow it, so it isn't a prodrug situation.

If carob did blunt absorption, you'd theoretically get a bit less benefit, meaning weaker support for weight gain or bone health. Honestly though, this is rated minor and rests only on lab data, so it's not something to lose sleep over. An easy fix is simple spacing: take your oxandrolone first, then enjoy carob about 30 to 60 minutes later. When in doubt, ask your pharmacist.

Carob is a Mediterranean tree whose pods are widely used as a caffeine-free, naturally sweet cocoa alternative and as a thickener (carob gum). It is mostly eaten as a food and is generally well tolerated, and carob pod preparations have some traditional and limited research use for diarrhea, but evidence for most medicinal claims is limited. What Is Oxandrolone Used For?

  • Oxandrolone is used with a diet program to cause weight gain in people who have lost too much weight due to surgery, injury, chronic (long-lasting) infections, trauma, or who are underweight for unknown reasons. Oxandrolone is also used to treat bone pain in people with osteoporosis (a condition in which the bones become thin and weak and break easily) and to prevent certain side effects in people who take corticosteroids (a group of medications used to treat many conditions that involve inflammation or swelling of part of the body) for a long time. Oxandrolone is in a class of medications called androgenic hormones. It works by increasing the amount of protein made by the body. This protein is used to build more muscle and increase body weight.
