In human and laboratory research, cat's claw has been shown to have immunostimulating activity. It stimulates phagocytosis and increases respiratory cellular activity and the mobility of leukocytes. Theoretically, this could interfere with the activity of immunosuppressant medications.

Here's the idea behind this pairing. Cat's claw appears to rev up parts of the immune system in lab and animal studies, nudging certain immune cells to be more active. Fludrocortisone, while mostly used to help your body hold onto salt and keep blood pressure steady (for example in adrenal insufficiency or certain forms of low blood pressure), is a corticosteroid and can quiet the immune system at higher doses. So in theory, cat's claw could push against that calming effect.

I'll be honest with you, this is a theoretical concern based on test tube and animal work, not strong human evidence, so it may not amount to much in real life. Still, since this is mostly guesswork, it's worth a quick chat with your doctor or pharmacist before adding cat's claw, and please don't change your fludrocortisone on your own.
