Here's the thing to know if you ever undergo EDTA chelation while taking indapamide. Both can push your potassium levels down. Indapamide is a thiazide-like water pill, and one of its well-known effects is flushing potassium out in your urine. EDTA can do something similar, so stacking the two could leave your potassium lower than is comfortable.

Low potassium can show up as muscle cramps, weakness, fatigue, or an irregular heartbeat. I'll be honest: this concern is theoretical, based on how these agents behave rather than strong studies, and real chelation is done under a doctor's supervision. Still, if you're on indapamide and EDTA chelation comes up, ask your doctor about checking your potassium so it can be watched.

What Is Indapamide Used For?

Brand names: Lozol, Lozide

Indapamide tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension), either on their own or together with other blood pressure medications. Lowering blood pressure helps reduce the risk of related complications.

Indapamide tablets are also used to treat salt and fluid retention (edema) associated with congestive heart failure. In certain cases, indapamide may also be appropriate during pregnancy when swelling is caused by a medical condition rather than normal pregnancy changes — but routine use in otherwise healthy pregnant women is not recommended.
