Here's the situation with these two. Fluorouracil, whether you're getting it by IV for cancer or using the cream (Efudex, Tolak) on your skin, can make you more sensitive to sunlight. That means easier sunburns, redness, and skin irritation even with modest sun exposure. Chenopodium oil, made from the epazote plant, has also been linked to photosensitivity.

So in theory, pairing them could add up and raise your risk of a stronger reaction in the sun. I want to be honest though: this concern is based on how the two behave, not on real-world reports, so the evidence is weak. There's no change in how fluorouracil is broken down here. Still, given chenopodium oil's known toxicity when taken internally, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before using it at all.

Chenopodium oil is a strong-smelling essential oil from the epazote plant that was historically used to treat intestinal worms. It contains ascaridole, a compound that is quite toxic, and overdoses have caused serious harm, so it is no longer recommended for internal use. Safer modern deworming medicines exist, so talk with a pharmacist or doctor before using this oil.

What Is Fluorouracil Injection Used For?

Brand names: Efudex, Tolak

Fluorouracil Injection is used to treat four types of adenocarcinoma (a common form of cancer that begins in glandular cells): cancer of the colon and rectum, breast cancer, stomach (gastric) cancer, and pancreatic cancer.

It is nearly always given as part of a combination chemotherapy regimen alongside other cancer medicines, and the specific drugs paired with it depend on which cancer is being treated.
