Here's the simple version: fondaparinux is already a powerful blood thinner that lowers your blood's ability to clot. Chokeberry contains polyphenols that, in lab and some human research, can make platelets a little less sticky and slow clot formation on their own. So you're not changing how fondaparinux is broken down here. Instead, you'd be stacking two things that both nudge you toward easier bleeding.

The concern is mostly theoretical and would more likely matter with concentrated chokeberry supplements than with a normal serving of juice or jam. Still, watch for unusual bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or blood in your urine or stool. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding a chokeberry supplement, and don't change your fondaparinux on your own.

Chokeberry (aronia) is a dark berry rich in antioxidants called polyphenols, and it's widely eaten as juice, jam, and supplements. Early research hints it may support heart health, blood pressure, and blood sugar, but the evidence is still limited and far from proven. It's generally well tolerated as a food, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated supplements.

About Fondaparinux Injection

What Is Fondaparinux Injection Used For?

Brand name: Arixtra

Fondaparinux sodium injection is used to prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) — blood clots that form in the legs — in adults who are having hip fracture surgery, hip replacement surgery, knee replacement surgery, or abdominal surgery. Preventing these clots also lowers the risk of a clot traveling to the lungs (pulmonary embolism, or PE).

It is also used to treat acute DVT and acute pulmonary embolism in adults, typically started alongside warfarin. In children aged 1 year and older who weigh at least 10 kg (about 22 lbs), fondaparinux sodium injection is approved to treat venous thromboembolism (VTE) — blood clots in the veins.
