Tamoxifen Citrate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Chokeberry interacts with.

Theoretically, chokeberry might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
In vitro research shows that chokeberry inhibits CYP3A4. In humans, there is one case report of a drug interaction with trabectedin, a CYP3A4 substrate, which is hypothesized to have been caused by chokeberry inhibition of CYP3A4.

Here's the nuance with tamoxifen: your body has to activate it. Enzymes (mostly CYP2D6, with some help from CYP3A4) convert tamoxifen into its potent form, called endoxifen, which does the real cancer-fighting work. So tamoxifen behaves somewhat like a prodrug.

Lab studies suggest chokeberry may mildly block CYP3A4. In theory, slowing that enzyme could shift how tamoxifen is processed, but honestly the evidence here is thin. It's based on test-tube data and a single case report with a different drug, not real-world studies with tamoxifen. The takeaway: eating chokeberries as food is very unlikely to matter, but concentrated aronia supplements are worth running past your oncologist or pharmacist before you start.

Early research hints it may support heart health, blood pressure, and blood sugar, but the evidence is still limited and far from proven. About Tamoxifen

What Is Tamoxifen Used For?

Brand names: Nolvadex, Soltamox

Tamoxifen is used to treat estrogen receptor-positive metastatic breast cancer in both women and men, and as follow-up (adjuvant) therapy after surgery for early-stage breast cancer in women. It also reduces the occurrence of cancer in the opposite breast when used as adjuvant therapy.

In women with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS — an early, non-invasive breast change) following surgery and radiation, tamoxifen lowers the risk of developing invasive breast cancer. It is also approved to reduce the risk of breast cancer in women who are at high risk but have not yet been diagnosed. Both Tamoxifen Citrate tablets and Soltamox oral solution share these indications.
