Here's the simple version: coffee charcoal acts a bit like the activated charcoal you may have heard of. Its porous surface can grab onto things in your gut, and that includes medications you swallow. If you take your Ergoloid Mesylates (Hydergine) at the same time, some of the dose may bind to the charcoal and never make it into your bloodstream. That means you could get less benefit for the mental sharpness and memory support it's meant to provide.

The good news is this is a timing problem, not a reason to panic. Keep in mind this concern is based on how charcoal behaves, not on hard studies with this exact drug. A practical fix is to separate them by at least two hours. Run that plan by your pharmacist or doctor first so you keep getting the full effect.
