Here's the gist for nadolol, which you take to keep your blood pressure down and your heart steady. The concern with coltsfoot is mostly theoretical and based on weak, anecdotal reports. The thinking is that large amounts of coltsfoot might work against your blood pressure medicine, so your readings could creep up or your chest pain control could slip a little.

Honestly, the bigger worry with coltsfoot isn't this interaction at all. The raw plant can contain compounds that are hard on the liver, which is why many pharmacists suggest avoiding it unless the product is certified free of those compounds. Before adding coltsfoot, please run it by your pharmacist or doctor, and don't change your nadolol on your own.

Coltsfoot is a traditional herb long used to soothe coughs and clear mucus, but solid human evidence for these uses is lacking. More importantly, the raw plant can contain liver-toxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids, so it carries real safety concerns and is best avoided unless you use a product certified to be free of these compounds.

What Is Nadolol Used For?

Brand names: Corgard, Nadolol

Nadolol tablets are used for two main conditions: high blood pressure (hypertension) and angina pectoris (ongoing chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart). Lowering high blood pressure reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack.

For high blood pressure, nadolol may be prescribed on its own or combined with other blood pressure medications, especially thiazide-type diuretics (water pills). For angina, it is used for long-term management to help reduce how often chest pain occurs.
