Here's the simple version: Benzthiazide (Exna) is a thiazide-type water pill that lowers blood pressure by helping your body shed extra salt and fluid. Kinkeliba tea (Combretum micranthum) has its own mild blood-pressure-lowering effect, so drinking it regularly while taking benzthiazide could nudge your pressure down a little further than expected.

If both are working in the same direction, you might notice signs of low blood pressure, like dizziness, lightheadedness when you stand up, tiredness, or feeling faint. The good news is that this is mostly theoretical and based on limited research, so it's not a reason to panic. Still, if you'd like to enjoy this tea, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor first, and keep an eye on how you feel.

Here's the gist of it. Benzthiazide (Exna) is a thiazide-type water pill that already makes your body flush out sodium and fluid to lower blood pressure. Kinkeliba tea has shown a mild natriuretic effect of its own in early research, meaning it also nudges your body to release sodium. Stacking the two could push your blood sodium too low, a condition called hyponatremia.

If sodium drops, you might feel symptoms like headache, dizziness, nausea, muscle cramps, confusion, or feeling unusually weak or tired. To be fair, this is largely theoretical and based on limited, lower-quality evidence, so an occasional cup is unlikely to be a big deal for most people. Still, if you drink kinkeliba regularly while on Benzthiazide, check in with your pharmacist or doctor first, especially if you're older or already prone to low sodium.
