Chlorpropamide falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Comfrey interacts with.

Theoretically, comfrey might have additive adverse effects on the liver when used with hepatotoxic drugs.
Due to its pyrrolizidine alkaloid constituents, comfrey can cause hepatotoxic effects, including ascites, cirrhosis, hepatic fibrosis, hepatomegaly, and sinusoidal obstruction syndrome.

Here's the concern with pairing these two. Comfrey contains natural compounds called pyrrolizidine alkaloids, which can be hard on the liver, especially when taken by mouth. Chlorpropamide (Diabinese), a sulfonylurea for type 2 diabetes, can occasionally stress the liver too. Putting both together could, in theory, add up and increase the chance of liver trouble.

I want to be honest though: this is a theoretical caution based on how these substances behave, not on strong studies showing a problem with this exact combination. Still, comfrey should never be swallowed, and even on the skin it's only meant for short use. If you take chlorpropamide and are thinking about comfrey, please check with your pharmacist or doctor first.
