Dandelion + Estrogen
Estrogen brand name: Estrogen.
Dandelion has a moderate interaction with Estrogen. Theoretically, dandelion might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES
Why this applies to Estrogen
Estrogen falls under CYTOCHROME P450 1A2 (CYP1A2) SUBSTRATES — the group Dandelion interacts with.
Laboratory research suggests that dandelion might inhibit CYP1A2. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, until more is known, watch for an increase in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP1A2 in patients taking dandelion.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with dandelion and your estrogen. Your body partly clears estrogen using a liver enzyme called CYP1A2. In lab and test-tube studies, dandelion appeared to slow that enzyme down a bit. If that happened in a real person, estrogen could clear a little slower and build up, which might mean more of its usual effects (think breast tenderness, bloating, nausea, headaches, or spotting).
The important part: this has only been seen in laboratory work, never actually reported in people, so it's theoretical and likely minor. Eating dandelion as a food is very unlikely to matter. If you're thinking about concentrated dandelion supplements, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first and watch for new symptoms.

About Dandelion
What is Dandelion?
- Water retention (diuretic)
- Digestive upset
- Liver and gallbladder support
- Mild appetite stimulant
- Skin conditions
Dandelion is a common plant used in food and traditional medicine, often promoted as a natural 'water pill' and digestive aid. Human evidence for these uses is very limited, so its benefits are not well proven. It is generally considered safe as a food, but talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using concentrated supplements, especially if you have allergies or take other medicines.

Estrogen Is Linked to Lower Levels of 5 Nutrients
Natural Medicines records Estrogen as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Dandelion — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
