Deer Velvet and Estradiol

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.

Minor

ESTROGENS

Why this applies to Estradiol

Estradiol falls under ESTROGENS — the group Deer Velvet interacts with.

Theoretically, deer velvet might increase the effects and side effects of estrogens.
Laboratory evidence shows that deer velvet contains small quantities of estradiol and testosterone. While clinical research shows that taking deer velvet extract does not raise testosterone levels, estradiol levels were not measured.

Interaction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans..

Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the simple version: deer velvet naturally contains tiny amounts of estradiol, the very same hormone you're taking. So in theory, adding deer velvet on top of your estrogen could nudge your overall estrogen activity a little higher. If that happened, you might notice more of estradiol's usual effects, things like breast tenderness, bloating, headaches, nausea, or spotting.

That said, I want to keep this in perspective. This is a theoretical concern based on lab findings, not real-world studies, and the amount of estradiol in deer velvet is very small. The chance of a meaningful problem is low. Still, since you're already on hormone therapy, it's worth mentioning this to your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.
