Why this applies to Apomorphine

Apomorphine falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Eleuthero interacts with.

Theoretically, eleuthero might increase levels of P-glycoprotein substrates.
In vitro research suggests that eleuthero can inhibit the multi-drug transporter protein, P-glycoprotein. However, it is too soon to tell if this is clinically important. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the short version: in lab studies, eleuthero appears to block a transporter called P-glycoprotein, which helps move certain drugs out of your system. Apomorphine is handled in part by this transporter, so the theory is that eleuthero could let a bit more apomorphine stick around than expected.

If that happened, you might notice apomorphine's effects and side effects turn up a notch, things like nausea, lightheadedness or a drop in blood pressure when you stand, drowsiness, or more involuntary movements (dyskinesia). I want to be honest, though: this is only a test-tube finding and has not been reported in real people, so it may not matter at all. Since apomorphine is potent, it's still worth a quick chat with your doctor or pharmacist before combining them.

What Is Apomorphine Injection Used For?

Brand names: Uprima, Apokyn, APO-go, APO-go Pen, APO-go PFS

Apomorphine injection is used for the acute (quick-acting), intermittent treatment of hypomobility — sometimes called 'off' episodes — in adults with advanced Parkinson's disease. These episodes include 'end-of-dose wearing off' (when a scheduled Parkinson's medication stops working before the next dose is due) and unpredictable 'on/off' episodes (sudden freezing that is hard to predict).

It has been studied as an add-on therapy alongside other Parkinson's medications. The brands Apokyn, Apomorphine Hydrochloride, and Onapgo are all given by subcutaneous (under-the-skin) injection.
