Amphetamine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Eleuthero interacts with.

Theoretically, eleuthero might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
In vitro and animal research suggest that standardized extracts of eleuthero might inhibit CYP2D6. However, research in healthy human volunteers has found that taking eleuthero 485 mg twice daily for 14 days does not inhibit CYP2D6 drug metabolism.

Here's the short version: on paper, eleuthero might slow down an enzyme called CYP2D6, which is one of the pathways your body uses to clear amphetamine. If that happened, amphetamine could build up a little and you might notice more of its usual effects, things like a faster heartbeat, jitteriness, trouble sleeping, reduced appetite, or feeling wired.

But here's the reassuring part. This concern comes mostly from lab and animal studies. When researchers actually gave healthy people eleuthero (about 485 mg twice a day for two weeks), it did not meaningfully change how CYP2D6 works. So the real-world risk looks low. Still, since stimulants can be sensitive, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What Is Amphetamine Used For?

Brand names: Dyanavel XR, Adensys XR-ODT, Mydayis, Adzenys ER

Amphetamine treats Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in patients 6 years and older. Adzenys XR-ODT, Dyanavel XR, and the amphetamine extended-release orally disintegrating tablet formulations are specifically approved for ADHD in this age group.

Amphetamine Sulfate tablets and Evekeo (amphetamine sulfate tablets) are also approved for narcolepsy (a sleep disorder causing uncontrollable daytime sleepiness) and as a short-term aid in a calorie-restricted weight-loss program for exogenous obesity (weight gain from external factors like overeating) in patients who have not responded to other approaches.
