Here's the simple version: Benazepril (Lotensin) already lowers your blood pressure, and in lab studies gentian seemed to relax blood vessels and nudge blood pressure down too. Put them together and, in theory, those two effects could stack up. That might leave you a little too low, causing things like dizziness, lightheadedness when you stand up, fatigue, or feeling faint.

Now, the honest part: this idea comes only from test-tube and animal research, not from real patients, so it's more of a caution than a proven problem. A small splash of bitters before a meal is unlikely to matter much. If you use concentrated gentian regularly, just mention it to your pharmacist or doctor and keep an eye on how you feel.

What Is Benazepril Used For?

Brand name: Lotensin

Benazepril — sold as Lotensin and under the generic names Benazepril and Benazepril Hydrochloride — is approved to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of serious cardiovascular events, including strokes and heart attacks.

It can be used on its own or combined with a thiazide diuretic (water pill) when blood pressure needs extra control. Lotensin is specifically indicated for the treatment of hypertension to lower blood pressure.
