Larotrectinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group German Chamomile interacts with.

Theoretically, German chamomile might inhibit CYP3A4 and increase levels of drugs metabolized by these enzymes.
In vitro evidence shows that German chamomile might inhibit CYP3A4. So far, this interaction has not been reported in humans. However, there might be an increase in the levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4 in patients taking German chamomile.

Here's the gist for Vitrakvi (larotrectinib). Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to break this cancer drug down and clear it out. Lab studies suggest German chamomile might slow that same enzyme a bit. If it does, larotrectinib could build up in your system more than expected, which could mean stronger side effects like dizziness, tiredness, nausea, or changes in your liver tests.

The important part: this is only seen in test-tube research, never reported in actual people, so the real-world risk is uncertain. An occasional cup of chamomile tea is unlikely to be a big deal, but concentrated supplements are harder to judge. Since larotrectinib is a serious cancer treatment, please run any chamomile use past your oncologist or pharmacist first.

About Larotrectinib

What Is Larotrectinib Used For?

Brand name: Vitrakvi

Vitrakvi is used to treat adult and pediatric patients with solid tumors that have a neurotrophic receptor tyrosine kinase (NTRK) gene fusion — a specific genetic alteration that can drive tumor growth. It is used when the tumor is metastatic (has spread) or when surgery to remove it would likely cause serious harm, and when there are no satisfactory alternative treatments or the cancer has continued to grow after prior treatment.

Patients must be selected for Vitrakvi therapy based on an FDA-approved test that confirms the NTRK gene fusion in their tumor. This approval is under the FDA's accelerated approval pathway, based on how many patients responded to treatment and how long those responses lasted. Continued approval may depend on results from follow-up clinical trials.
