Why this applies to Clomipramine

Clomipramine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Greater Celandine interacts with.

Research in vitro shows that chelidonine, a constituent of greater celandine, inhibits cytochrome P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) enzyme activity. Theoretically, greater celandine might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2D6.
Some drugs metabolized by CYP2D6 include amitriptyline (Elavil), clozapine (Clozaril), codeine, desipramine (Norpramin), donepezil (Aricept), fentanyl (Duragesic), flecainide (Tambocor), fluoxetine (Prozac), meperidine (Demerol), methadone (Dolophine), metoprolol (Lopressor, Toprol XL), olanzapine (Zyprexa), ondansetron (Zofran), tramadol (Ultram), trazodone (Desyrel), and many others.

Here's the gist for Clomipramine (Anafranil): your liver uses an enzyme called CYP2D6 to help clear this medication. In lab dish studies, a compound in greater celandine (chelidonine) appears to slow that enzyme down. If that happened in your body, clomipramine could build up to higher levels than usual. That can mean more of its common side effects, like a dry mouth, constipation, drowsiness, dizziness, a racing or irregular heartbeat, or in larger excess, more serious heart rhythm or seizure risks.

I'll be honest though, this is only a theoretical concern based on test-tube work, not real patients, so I wouldn't panic. The bigger issue is that greater celandine itself has been tied to serious liver injury, so most experts steer away from it. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.
