Theoretically, hu zhang might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP2C19.
Hu zhang contains the constituent resveratrol. In vitro research shows that resveratrol might inhibit the CYP2C19 enzyme. This interaction has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist with Hu Zhang and your voriconazole (Vfend). Your body relies heavily on a liver enzyme called CYP2C19 to break voriconazole down and clear it out. The resveratrol in Hu Zhang has been shown in lab dish studies to slow that same enzyme. If that happened in a person, voriconazole could build up a little higher than expected, which may mean more side effects like blurred or color-tinged vision, nausea, liver irritation, or skin sensitivity to sunlight.

I want to be honest, though: this is only a theoretical concern based on test-tube data, and it hasn't actually been reported in real patients. Voriconazole is a tricky drug with already unpredictable blood levels, so I'd still mention any Hu Zhang use to your doctor or pharmacist before combining them.

Theoretically, hu zhang might increase levels of drugs metabolized by CYP3A4.
Hu zhang contains the constituent resveratrol. In vitro research shows that resveratrol might inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme. However, a clinical study in adults with NAFLD found that adding resveratrol 3000 mg daily for 8 weeks did not necessitate dose adjustments to any established medications metabolized by CYP3A4.

Here's the gist for Vfend (voriconazole). Your body partly clears this antifungal using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. The resveratrol in Hu Zhang can, at least in a test tube, slow that same enzyme down. In theory, that could let voriconazole build up a bit higher than expected, which might mean more of its usual side effects, like visual changes or blurry vision, nausea, headache, or liver irritation.

I want to be honest about how shaky this is. It's theoretical, based on lab work, and one human study using high-dose resveratrol didn't actually force any dose changes. Voriconazole is a drug where levels really do matter, though, so don't add Hu Zhang without first checking with your pharmacist or doctor.

Some lab and early human research looks interesting for inflammation and heart health, but high-quality evidence in people is limited. About Voriconazole

What Is Voriconazole Used For?

Brand name: Vfend

Voriconazole treats several serious fungal infections. Across all available forms — tablets, oral suspension, and intravenous (IV) injection — it is used for invasive aspergillosis (a dangerous mold infection), candidemia (Candida fungus in the bloodstream) in patients who are not neutropenic (not severely low on white blood cells), other deep-tissue Candida infections, and serious infections caused by Scedosporium apiospermum or Fusarium species in patients who cannot tolerate or have not responded to other antifungal treatments.

Esophageal candidiasis (a Candida infection of the esophagus, the swallowing tube) is also an approved use for most formulations. Note on the oral tablet form (generic voriconazole tablets): that specific tablet formulation is approved for patients aged 12 to 14 years weighing at least 50 kg, and all patients 15 years and older — not for younger or smaller children. The oral suspension and the IV injection are approved for patients 2 years and older for most of these conditions.
