SEROTONERGIC DRUGS

Atropine, meperidine falls under SEROTONERGIC DRUGS — the group Iboga interacts with.
Ibogaine, a constituent in iboga, has serotonergic effects. Theoretically, combining serotonergic drugs with iboga might increase the risk of serotonergic side effects, including serotonin syndrome and cerebral vasoconstrictive disorders. Monitor patients for signs of serotonin syndrome and other serotonergic side effects if using iboga with serotonergic drugs.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the concern with this combo. Meperidine (Demerol) does more than relieve pain; it also raises serotonin activity in your brain, which is why it's flagged as a serotonergic drug. Iboga, through its ibogaine content, pushes serotonin levels up too. Stack the two together and you can get too much serotonin, which may trigger serotonin syndrome: agitation, a racing heart, sweating, shivering, muscle twitching, or confusion.
I'll be honest, this warning is theoretical, based on how these substances work rather than reported cases. But iboga carries its own serious heart rhythm risks, and meperidine is a strong opioid, so this isn't a pairing to take lightly. Please talk with your doctor or pharmacist before mixing them, and don't change your medications on your own.

ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS
2 of 2Atropine, meperidine also falls under ANTICHOLINERGIC DRUGS.
In vitro research shows that iboga can inhibit acetylcholinesterase and might increase acetylcholine levels. However, the constituent ibogaine does not appear to have this effect.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the idea behind this one. Atropine works by blocking acetylcholine, the nerve signal that controls things like saliva, heart rate, and gut activity. Some lab studies suggest Iboga might raise acetylcholine levels by blocking the enzyme that breaks it down. If that happened in the body, it could theoretically push back against atropine and make it work less well, so you might see less of the dry-mouth, faster-heartbeat, or anti-cramping effects you were counting on.
I want to be honest about how shaky this is. This comes from test-tube research only, and the main Iboga compound (ibogaine) didn't even show this effect. On top of that, Iboga itself carries real dangers to the heart and is illegal in the U.S. Please talk with your doctor or pharmacist before mixing anything like this.
