Sibutramine falls under SEROTONERGIC DRUGS — the group Iboga interacts with.

Theoretically, taking iboga with serotonergic drugs might increase levels of serotonin, resulting in additive effects with serotonergic drugs.
Ibogaine, a constituent in iboga, has serotonergic effects. Theoretically, combining serotonergic drugs with iboga might increase the risk of serotonergic side effects, including serotonin syndrome and cerebral vasoconstrictive disorders. Monitor patients for signs of serotonin syndrome and other serotonergic side effects if using iboga with serotonergic drugs.

Here's the thing to know about pairing these two. Sibutramine (Meridia) is a weight-loss drug that raises serotonin levels in your brain by blocking its reuptake. Iboga, through its compound ibogaine, also pushes serotonin activity up. Stack those two together and you're potentially doubling down on serotonin, which can tip you toward serotonin syndrome. That can look like agitation, a racing heart, high blood pressure, sweating, shivering, muscle twitching, or confusion.

I'll be straight with you: this concern is theoretical, based on how both substances work rather than hard case reports. But Iboga is genuinely dangerous on its own (it can trigger serious heart rhythm problems), and Sibutramine was pulled from the U.S. market for cardiovascular risks. I would not combine them. Please talk this over with your doctor or pharmacist first.

Here's the concern with pairing these two: Iboga (through its main compound, ibogaine) has been linked in real case reports to a heart rhythm change called QT prolongation. Sibutramine, an old weight-loss drug, can also nudge the QT interval and tends to raise heart rate and blood pressure. Putting both together could stack those heart effects, which in the worst case can lead to a dangerous, irregular heartbeat.

This isn't about one drug breaking down the other. It's two things pushing in the same direction on your heart's electrical timing. The evidence here is mostly anecdotal, so it's a theoretical caution rather than a proven event. Still, both of these carry serious safety baggage. Sibutramine was pulled from the U.S. market for heart risks, and ibogaine is illegal here. Please talk with your doctor or pharmacist before going near either one.
