ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
Why this applies to Ibuprofen, Pseudoephedrine
Ibuprofen, Pseudoephedrine falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Indian Long Pepper interacts with.
In vitro research shows that Indian long pepper extract inhibits platelet aggregation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version. Lab studies (done in test tubes, not people) suggest that Indian long pepper can make platelets a little less sticky, so they don't clump together as easily. The ibuprofen in your Dristan already does something similar, since it's a pain and inflammation reliever that can thin the blood slightly on its own. Stacking the two could, in theory, nudge your bleeding risk up a bit.
In real life this is a weak, theoretical concern, and a pinch of this spice in food is unlikely to cause trouble. With concentrated supplement doses, keep an eye out for easy bruising, nosebleeds, or stomach upset. If you take it regularly, just check in with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.
