Ivermectin falls under P-GLYCOPROTEIN SUBSTRATES — the group Indian Long Pepper interacts with.

Theoretically, Indian long pepper might increase levels of P-glycoprotein substrates.
In vitro research shows that piperine, a constituent of Indian long pepper, can inhibit P-glycoprotein.

Here's the gist: your body uses a little 'pump' called P-glycoprotein to move ivermectin back out of cells, including helping keep it out of your brain. The piperine in Indian long pepper may slow that pump down. In theory, that could let a bit more ivermectin hang around in your blood than usual, which might mean stronger effects or more side effects like dizziness, nausea, headache, or feeling unusually drowsy.

The important part: this concern comes only from lab (test tube) studies, not from people, so it's theoretical and may not amount to much in real life. A sprinkle of pepper on food is very unlikely to matter; concentrated supplement doses are the bigger question mark. Since ivermectin is usually a short course, just let your pharmacist or doctor know if you take pippali regularly.

About Ivermectin

What Is Ivermectin Used For?

Brand names: Stromectol, Mectizan, Sklice, Soolantra

Ivermectin tablets (including Stromectol) are used to treat two parasitic infections: strongyloidiasis (a roundworm infection of the intestinal tract) and onchocerciasis (river blindness, caused by a parasitic worm spread by blackfly bites). These are prescription uses for serious infections.

Topical ivermectin lotion — sold under several names including RID One and Done, Head Lice Treatment Ivermectin Lotion, Scalp Care Lotions, and others — is applied to the scalp to treat head lice. A separate topical ivermectin cream (1%), available as Soolantra and ivermectin cream 1%, is used to treat the inflammatory pimple-like bumps of rosacea.
