No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Indium and Digoxin in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Indium and Digoxin

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Digoxin and Indium in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

Worth understanding: our licensed dataset holds no drug-interaction record for Indium at all — not against Digoxin, and not against any other medication we track. This verdict therefore rests on the absence of any recorded data, not on research that looked at this combination and found nothing. We cannot rule an interaction out.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

What Indium Itself Has Been Linked To

This is not an interaction — nothing below involves Digoxin. It is the side-effect record for Indium on its own, from the licensed Natural Medicines monograph. If something new turns up after you add Indium, this list is the first place to look. One entry is worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

  • Chest pain / Shortness of breath Worth acting on Additional detail

“Occupational exposure to indium by inhalation can lead to potentially fatal interstitial lung disease, characterized by pulmonary alveolar proteinosis, progressing to fibrosis with or without emphysema. The disease develops slowly with shortness of breath, chest tightness and pain, dry cough, dyspnea, and deteriorating pulmonary function tests.”

Everything above comes from the Natural Medicines adverse-effect record for Indium — expand a row for the licensed statement it rests on. We read the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Digoxin’s FDA label too, and the two lists don’t meaningfully overlap — which is why no Digoxin column appears here.

These are real questions from readers, answered by the pharmacists at HelloPharmacist — written by a person, not generated from a database. From our pharmacist’s overview on the Digoxin page

“Digoxin is a heart medicine with a narrow therapeutic index, meaning the gap between a helpful blood level and a harmful one is small, and few drugs give me more pause when supplements enter the picture. The most serious entries here are herbs that themselves contain digoxin-like cardiac glycosides, foxglove and lily-of-the-valley amon…”

About Indium

What is Indium?

  • Anti-aging
  • Boosting energy
  • Supporting hormone or gland function
  • General 'wellness' or trace mineral supplementation

Indium is a metallic chemical element sometimes sold as a liquid 'trace mineral' supplement with bold anti-aging and energy claims, but it is not a recognized essential nutrient and there is no reliable human evidence that it offers any health benefit. Because safety data are very limited and it is a heavy metal, most people should avoid it and talk with a pharmacist or doctor first.

Not a plant; a chemical element (indium) sold as a mineral supplement · Liquid 'indium sulfate' drops, sometimes capsules

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Indium is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Indium record says about it on its own.

Indium: dosing

There is no established or recommended dose for indium, because it is not an essential nutrient and has no proven benefit. Products that contain it are not standardized, and label amounts vary.We do not recommend a specific dose. In general, the safest choice is to avoid it.

About Digoxin

What Is Digoxin Used For?

Brand names: Lanoxicaps, Lanoxin, Digitek

Digoxin treats mild to moderate heart failure in adults. It improves heart failure symptoms and exercise capacity, and it reduces heart failure-related hospitalizations and emergency care. It does not change survival.

It also helps control the resting heart rate in adults with chronic atrial fibrillation (an irregular heartbeat). In children with heart failure, the tablet, oral solution and most injection products are used to increase the heart’s pumping strength (myocardial contractility). Some older injection labels list only the adult uses. Digoxin Oral Solution should not be used for multifocal atrial tachycardia.
