Magnesium salts may reduce absorption of digoxin.
Clinical evidence suggests that treatment with oral magnesium hydroxide or magnesium trisilicate reduces absorption of digoxin from the intestines. This may reduce the blood levels of digoxin and decrease its therapeutic effects.

Here's the gist for digoxin: when you take a magnesium supplement (like magnesium hydroxide or certain antacids) around the same time, the magnesium can bind to digoxin in your gut and keep some of it from being absorbed. Digoxin isn't a prodrug, so less getting in simply means lower blood levels and a weaker effect.

Why this matters: digoxin has a narrow safety window, so even small dips can let your heart rate or heart failure symptoms creep back. The evidence here is limited, and a simple fix is usually spacing the doses by a couple of hours rather than stopping anything. About Digoxin

What Is Digoxin Used For?

Brand names: Lanoxicaps, Lanoxin, Digitek

Digoxin tablets, oral solution, and injections (including Lanoxin brand) are all approved to treat mild to moderate heart failure in adults — improving symptoms like exercise tolerance and reducing hospitalizations, though it does not extend life. It is also approved to control the resting ventricular rate (how fast the lower chambers beat) in adults with chronic atrial fibrillation. The oral solution specifically notes it should not be used for multifocal atrial tachycardia.

In children with heart failure, digoxin is used to strengthen the heart's contractions (increase myocardial contractility). Digoxin is best used alongside a diuretic (water pill) and an ACE inhibitor when possible.
