Ibuprofen lysine falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS — the group Magnesium interacts with.

Theoretically, magnesium may have antiplatelet effects, but the evidence is conflicting.
In vitro evidence shows that magnesium sulfate inhibits platelet aggregation, even at low concentrations. Some preliminary clinical evidence shows that infusion of magnesium sulfate increases bleeding time by 48% and reduces platelet activity. However, other clinical research shows that magnesium does not affect platelet aggregation, although inhibition of platelet-dependent thrombosis can occur.

Here's the gist with magnesium and ibuprofen. Ibuprofen itself can make platelets (the cells that help your blood clot) a little less sticky, which is why it can raise bleeding risk in some people. The thought is that magnesium might nudge platelets in the same direction, so in theory the two together could add up to slightly easier bruising or bleeding.

I want to be honest though: this is mostly lab and small-study territory, and the human evidence is genuinely mixed. For most folks taking normal magnesium amounts, this isn't something to lose sleep over. Just keep an eye out for unusual bruising, nosebleeds, or stomach upset, and check with your pharmacist or doctor if you're on blood thinners or notice anything off.

About Ibuprofen

What Is Ibuprofen Used For?

Brand name: NeoProfen

Oral ibuprofen products (tablets, coated tablets, and liquid-filled capsules) are used to temporarily relieve minor aches and pains from headache, backache, toothache, muscular aches, menstrual cramps, minor arthritis pain, and the common cold, and to temporarily reduce fever. The oral prescription tablet (Ibu) is also indicated for the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, mild to moderate pain, and primary dysmenorrhea (painful periods).

Caldolor, an intravenous (IV) form, is approved for adults and children 3 months and older to manage mild to moderate pain, to manage moderate to severe pain alongside opioid pain medicines, and to reduce fever. A separate intravenous solution, Ibuprofen Lysine, is used specifically in premature infants to close a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) — an abnormal blood vessel connection near the heart — when standard medical management has not worked.
