Here's the thing to keep in mind with Levemir (insulin detemir): inositol can gently lower your blood sugar on its own. Good-quality research shows it can bring down both glucose and HbA1c in people with diabetes. So when you stack it on top of your insulin, the two can add up and push your sugar lower than you intended.

That raises the chance of hypoglycemia, which can feel like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, a racing heart, or confusion. This isn't a reason to panic, and it doesn't mean you can't use both. It just means you should loop in your pharmacist or doctor first, check your numbers a bit more closely at the start, and watch for low-sugar signs so your insulin dose can be adjusted if needed.

Levemir (insulin detemir) is used to improve blood sugar (glucose) control in adults and children with type 1 diabetes or type 2 diabetes. It is a basal insulin, meaning it works around the clock to keep background blood sugar levels steady.

Levemir is not recommended for treating diabetic ketoacidosis (a dangerous buildup of acids in the blood that requires a different type of insulin).
