Darolutamide brand name: Nubeqa.

No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Jamaican Dogwood and Darolutamide in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Jamaican Dogwood and Darolutamide

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Darolutamide and Jamaican Dogwood in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Darolutamide

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Darolutamide is filed under 3 classifications — p-glycoprotein substrates, cytochrome p450 3a4 (cyp3a4) substrates, oral drugs. Jamaican Dogwood has documented interactions with 1 drug class — the most serious being cns depressants (moderate) — and none of Darolutamide’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What Darolutamide’s Own FDA Label Lists

This is not an interaction — none of it involves Jamaican Dogwood. These are the most notable effects listed in the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of Darolutamide’s own FDA label, for the medication by itself. Knowing the drug’s own list makes it easier to work out the likely cause if something new turns up while you take both. 10 of them are worth acting on rather than waiting out — marked below.

  • Trouble passing urine Worth acting on
  • A heart attack Worth acting on
  • Blood clots Worth acting on
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes Worth acting on
  • Heart failure Worth acting on
  • High blood sugar Worth acting on
  • A severe skin reaction Worth acting on

From the ADVERSE REACTIONS section of the FDA label for Darolutamide. Read the label on DailyMed › Where a percentage is shown, it is the share of 5,501 voluntary FDA FAERS reports for Darolutamide that mention that effect — a reporting proportion, not an incidence rate and not evidence the drug caused it. Jamaican Dogwood’s licensed record lists no adverse effects our clinical vocabulary could match, so there is no Jamaican Dogwood side to compare — that is a limit of the record, not a statement that Jamaican Dogwood has no side effects.

How to take them

Some Darolutamide Products Have a Food Rule — Jamaican Dogwood Should Not Break It

At least one FDA label for a product containing Darolutamide says to take it with food. If you take Jamaican Dogwood on an empty stomach out of habit, keep them separate — and take Darolutamide with a meal where the label says to.

This may not be true of your version. Food instructions belong to the product, not the ingredient: two Darolutamide products can carry different directions, and extended-release forms often differ from immediate-release ones. The label we read is quoted below — check the directions on your own box or bottle, or ask your pharmacist, for how to take the exact product you were given.

Take NUBEQA with food.

From the Dosage and Administration section of the FDA label we read for Darolutamide — where that label names a specific product, the instruction is that product's. Read the label on DailyMed ›

A food rule is not an interaction — it is about how much of the medicine you absorb. The directions that came with your own product, and your pharmacist, outrank anything on this page.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Darolutamide page

“Darolutamide (Nubeqa) treats prostate cancer, and supplements deserve real caution alongside it, because most of those listed here can change how much of the drug stays in your blood. Nearly all act on CYP3A4, the liver enzyme that breaks darolutamide down, or on the transport proteins that move it through cells.”

About Jamaican Dogwood

What is Jamaican Dogwood?

  • Insomnia and sleep trouble
  • Nerve pain
  • Anxiety and tension
  • Menstrual cramps
  • Muscle pain and spasms
  • Migraine and headaches

Jamaican dogwood is a tree bark traditionally used to promote sleep and ease pain, but high-quality human studies are lacking. It can be toxic in larger amounts and should be used cautiously, if at all, and never during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before trying it.

Piscidia piscipula · Fabaceae · Bark of the root and stem · Dried bark, tinctures, liquid extracts, capsules, teas

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Jamaican Dogwood is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Jamaican Dogwood record says about it on its own.

Jamaican Dogwood: dosing

There is no well-established, standardized dose for Jamaican dogwood. Products vary widely in strength, and the bark's natural compounds can be potent, so there is no safe "recommended" amount we can confidently give.If you choose to use a product, follow the directions on the label exactly and do not exceed them. It is best to start any new supplement only after checking with a pharmacist or doctor, who can help you weigh the risks. Avoid using it long-term or in high amounts.

About Darolutamide

What Is Darolutamide Used For?

Brand name: Nubeqa

Nubeqa (darolutamide) is approved to treat two forms of advanced prostate cancer in adults. The first is non-metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (nmCRPC) — prostate cancer that keeps growing despite hormone-lowering treatment and has not yet spread to other parts of the body. The second is metastatic castration-sensitive prostate cancer (mCSPC) — prostate cancer that has spread but still responds to hormone-lowering therapy.

For mCSPC, Nubeqa can be used on its own or in combination with docetaxel (a chemotherapy medicine). In all cases, patients also receive a hormone-lowering medicine called a GnRH agonist or antagonist, or have already had surgical removal of the testicles.
