ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Talinolol
Talinolol falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Japanese Persimmon interacts with.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Talinolol is a beta-blocker that helps bring your blood pressure down and steady your heart rate. The thinking here is fairly simple: Japanese persimmon may have its own mild blood-pressure-lowering effect. So if you pair it with talinolol, the two could add up and push your blood pressure lower than you want.
If that happens, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, unusually tired, or faint, especially when standing up quickly. Keep in mind this is mostly a theoretical concern, and eating persimmon as a normal fruit is unlikely to cause trouble for most people. Concentrated persimmon extracts or large amounts are more of a question mark. Before adding any persimmon supplement, check with your pharmacist or doctor, and let them know if you notice symptoms.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Talinolol page
“Most of what talinolol does, slowing the heart and lowering blood pressure as a beta-blocker, is exactly what the supplements on this page can amplify or undo, so I would approach any combination here with genuine care. The largest share adds to its blood-pressure-lowering effect, risking dizziness, a slow pulse, or fainting, while a f…”
